Almost every home has a carpet. Round, square, rectangular - these are the shapes of the product familiar to all of us. But it turns out that there are carpets, the outlines of which are striking in their originality. Faig Ahmed, an artist from Azeibarjan, is engaged in their creation. He turns traditional Turkish, Persian, Indian and Caucasian carpets into surreal art objects.

The craftsman gives the non-standard shape to the floor covering using classical techniques that originate in ancient times.
Fanciful carpets in Faig's interpretation disintegrate into separate elements, transform into a fluid substance, move in opposite directions.

“The carpet is a century of history and experience. Thousands of years ago, there were specimens similar to modern ones. The central part symbolizes the social structure of society. In ancient times, they were as important to people as various gadgets are to us today. Shamans and sorcerers performed rituals on carpets, summoning spirits from otherworldly worlds, ”says Faig.

With his products, the author shows that absolute symmetry is not inherent in the world. Chaos, distortions, imbalances are normal natural phenomena.

The artist studies the relationship between the conscious and the subconscious and explores the processes of destruction. He pays a lot of attention to the study of traditions that have been inherent in folk craft from time immemorial.

Faig's products at the beginning look like classic samples, but at a certain moment the texture changes: the ornament is intertwined and mixed. There is a feeling that something prevents the pattern from continuing its shape.

Faig Ahmed carpets have been exhibited at major exhibitions in Boston, Cleveland, Bellevue, Tasmania, Milwaukee and New York.
